CRASH! The sound filled the woods as a piece of wood flew through the air. Kota looked down at the pitiful mess. "Try it again", he commanded.
Skye jumped, she hadn't seen him there. "I can't", she whimpered. She had been trying all day.
Kota jumped down from his perch, and stared her straight in the eye. His eyes lacking all of their familiar warmth filled her soul with dread. She had failed him. She waited for the fallout. "Don't you ever say that again", his playful voice had gone cold.
Tears came to Skye's face. Who was she kidding; she would never be like Kota. He was brave, and cunning, and strong. Kota walked over to Skye and lifted up her chin. "It takes time. Concentrate. Let the magic fill your soul." He kneeled down next to her to look her in the eyes. "Close your eyes. Open your mind. Feel the woods around us. Concentrate on the piece of wood."
